Fees for Psychological Services

How does insurance coverage work?

Psychological counselling is not covered through MSI. However, most extended medical plans provide coverage for psychological services (i.e., Blue Cross, Great West Life, SunLife, etc.). Please check with your insurance provider to determine if you have coverage for psychological services.

We do not offer direct billing, but will provide an official receipt that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. Reimbursement with most insurance companies is often fast and straightforward. Psychological services are also income-tax deductible as a health-care expense, so please keep your receipts for your records.

How much does counselling cost?

The fee for counselling is $170 per 50-minute session (+ 10-minute administration time). This fee is also applied to any additional reports/forms, or external meetings that are requested on your behalf. This fee is consistent with the recommended rate for psychological services which was set by the Association of Psychologists of Nova Scotia. Psychological assessment fees vary dependant on the nature of the assessment. Please contact our office for more information.

If you require psychological services/reports for legal purposes, the fee is $190 per hour.

What type of payment is accepted?

We accept Visa, MasterCard, Interac, and cash. Alternatively, you can conveniently pay online through our scheduling system when you book your appointment.

Cancellation Policy

Appointment times are reserved just for you. Therefore, our office requires 24-hour notice if you’d like to cancel/reschedule your appointment. For appointments scheduled on a Monday, they must be cancelled by noon on the preceding Friday. Failure to provide this notice will result in a 75% charge of the cost of the service ($127.50). Appointments can be easily rescheduled or cancelled on our online booking service.
